For example, I can manually renumber saves in Wrye Bash (or in Windows, for that matter), the file name on the hard drive changes appropriately, but it still shows as Save258 on the Load menu. I know I can use Wrye Bash to rename/renumber saved games, but it doesn't seem to have any effect in the Load menu. However, the save game numbering picks up with the next number, even if there are no lower numbers in the directory. It's probably not necessary, but if I have no intention of going back to the old characters, then I see no reason to keep the save files. I generally tend to delete old saves when I create a new character. ini settings and haven't found the solution. Apologies if this has already been asked and answered.
